Coalition of Cities Against Racism

The International Coalition of Cities against Racism was launched by UNESCO in 2004 "to establish a network of cities interested in sharing experiences in order to improve their policies to fight racism, discrimination, xenophobia and exclusion". There are also several regional coalitions in Africa, Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, the Arab Region and Europe (UNESCO).

The European Coaliton of Cities Against Racism (ECCAR) was launched a few months later in 2004, on the occasion of the fourth European Conference of Cities for Human Rights. Since then, 121 cities from 24 countries have joined this initiative (UNESCO).
